A Culture of Creative and Deeper Learing
Project-Based Learning is about culture building – infusing creativity in the classroom – learning by doing – making things we care about.
This course explores how arts-infused PBL can strengthen student voice and agency, inspire deeper learning, and build a classroom culture of creativity and collaboration.

Through hands-on workshops with master teaching artists from CraftStudies and the Community Engagement Lab, you will build your PBL skills and a toolkit of everyday creative engagement ideas to implement in your classroom.

This primer course develops the foundational skills for you to plan and be prepared to implement a project ​in your classroom.

June Albright (she/her)
Workshop Leader​
June has taught handwork, including knitting, crocheting, sewing and embroidery to students in grades one through eight at the Upper Valley Waldorf school for thirty years.

Lisa Brahms (she/her)
Course Leader​
Lisa's career has focused on how people learn through creative processes and on designing environments that encourage hands-on engagement.

Deb Churchill (she/her)
Workshop Leader​
Deborah is a middle school math and potter. Her projects often focus on the art of geometry, such as tile and mosaic design, quilting, barn quilts, and building three-dimensional objects.

Paul Gambill (he/him)
Course Leader
Paul leads teacher professional development in arts-infused project-based learning and community engagement in his role as co-founder of the Project Design Lab.

Tracy Gillespie (she/her)
Workshop Leader​
Tracy is an artist and certified 7–12 mathematics educator. She believes creativity is central to being human and works to help others connect with their own curiosity and sense of discovery.

Elizabeth Greene (she/her)
Workshop Leader​
Elizabeth recently retired after 32 years, teaching art at Hanover High School in many mediums, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, pottery, photography, and jewelry.

Jill Koppers (she/her)
Workshop Leader​
Jill has been in the field of education for over twenty years and is now joining her skills of teaching, love of working with children and adults, and her passion for clay.

Becca Osborne (she/her)
Workshop Leader​
Becca is a middle school teacher with experience as a farm-based educator, STEM teacher, and the clay studio coordinator at CraftStudies. Her current Rowland Foundation Fellowship is focused on increasing meaningful hands-on learning for middle school students.

Tuition

$1,850 - Three graduate credits
Syllabus - PLEASE READ - includes daily schedule, assignments, grading scale.
Grades awarded upon completion of course assignments in April.

$1,650 - Certificate of Participation for 45 hours relicensing credits.
Attend Solo or as a Team
You can attend solo, or with a team from your school or district, which can be composed of any educator (classroom teachers, councilors, paras, special educators, staff, administrators) and can be from the same grades and content areas, or mixed. ​​
