Creativity, Circuits, and Code

that Bring Stories to LIfe.

Discover the magic of combining stories with technology and leave with the confidence to guide students in designing creative projects that deepen their engagement with literature using circuits and codes.

At the Project Design Lab you will build a project plan using creative engagement – making things we care about – to deepen your student's engagement with literature.


No prior experience

with circuits or coding needed.


We'll guide you through everything from basic LED circuits to block-based coding, helping you build confidence with each new skill.


You will leave with the confidence needed to guide students in designing creative projects that deepen their engagement with literature using circuits and codes.

Who Should Attend?

  • Elementary teachers in grades 3-5

  • Middle & High School teachers: librarians, ELA, science, math, humanities, and art.

  • STEAM and enrichment teacheres

What To Expect

  • Explore real examples of successful student and teacher projects to inspire your project design, from light-up mythology constellation displays to interactive talking posters.
     

  • Master practical techniques using conductive tape, LED lights, sewable sensors, and beginner-friendly circuit boards through hands-on skill building.  
     

  • Learn to seamlessly blend science, technology, art, literacy, and storytelling. 
     

  • Create practical, customized project plan that integrates with your curriculum. 
     

  • Connect with fellow educators and learn from maker education experts. 
     

  • Develop your own project plan that you can customize for  your students' needs and interests.

  • Paper Circuit Foundations
    Create illuminated literary scenes using basic circuits and colorful LED lights.

    Craft wearable technology projects that bring literary characters and themes to life.

Course Leader

Lucie deLaBruere has dedicated her career to transforming how students learn through hands-on projects using innovative technology. This year, she brings the spirit of Create Make Learn to Project Design Lab. With decades of teaching experience in Vermont schools ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 12, Lucie brings a unique blend of technical expertise and educational vision to every project she leads.

Curcuits Details

The Details
2025 Project Design Lab

June 23-27 / 9:00am - 4:00pm

University of Vermont / Burlington

Tuition

  • $2,000 - Three graduate credits

  • $1,790 - Certificate of Participation for 40 hours relicensing credits

 

$100 later registration fee after May 1. 

 

Tuition includes a private air-conditioned dorm room with centrally located private bath at the University of Vermont, plus breakfast and lunch. Everyone is on their own for dinner in Burlington. Lodging is optional.

Attend Solo or as a Team

You can attend solo or with a team from your school or district.

 

Teams can be composed of any educator – classroom teachers, councilors, paras, special educators, staff, administrators – and can be from the same grades and content areas, or mixed.

 

Teams may include educators from different schools in the district if you want to design a multi-school project 

​
